Scientific Study on Traditional and Modern Conservation Measures, Material Deterioration, and Risks as Basis for Long-Term Preservation of Nepalese World Heritage

“Discovering Patterns of Damage and Conservation Practice” is a research project carried out by the Institute of Conservation at the University of Applied Arts Vienna together with the Nepalese Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust and funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). In a systematic approach materials and their degradation, damage patterns and conservation cultures at the Patan Darbar Square are studied and examined to reveal sustainable preservation strategies for this UNESCO World Heritage site.
